People that really know me, know that I LOVE LOVE LOVE horror films.
All horror films. From foreign, psychological, found footage, it doesn't matter what genre of horror, I love them all. Even some of the cheesier/low budget ones from way before my time.
I constantly get asked "Why do you like them so much? Why do you like to be scared?"
My only rational is that I love the emotion of fear.
Some people sky dive, some people ride roller coasters, to get that feeling....
I turn out all the lights and I watch a scary, horrifying, gory, gut wrenching horror film.
The movies stay with me after I've seen them, as any movie would, but do I creep around my house at night asking, "Is anyone there?" No. It's a movie.
In studying film, I know that in between the scariest of scenes, the crew is setting up, drinking coffee and stressing out.
It's just a movie. The horror you feel and that stays with you after the movie is over...
is all inside your own head.
Here are my top 5 scary movie/movie scenes that scare me and continue to scare me whenever I re-watch them.
V/H/S 'montage of every gore scene' ('10/31/98' is my favorite segment of this film)
V/H/S 2 'Safe Haven' Segment
Paranormal Activity 'Dragged out of bed scene'
Grave Encounters 2 'Hallway Scene'
The Silence of the Lambs 'Night Vision Scene'
By definition this is not a 'horror' film, but this one scene always and forever scares me.
